Build a Career in Supported Living with MAYLAD

At MAYLAD Support and Rehabilitation Limited, our team plays a central role in the quality of support we provide. We are committed to creating a working environment where people can develop their skills, contribute meaningfully, and support individuals with autism, learning disabilities and mental health challenges across London and Essex.

Working in supported living requires patience, consistency, good judgement and genuine respect for the people being supported. We look for individuals who understand that effective support is not about taking over someone’s life. It is about helping people make choices, build confidence and work towards greater independence in a way that reflects their own needs and goals.

Training & Development

We believe staff development is an important part of delivering dependable, person-centred support. Team members need the knowledge, confidence and practical understanding required to respond appropriately to different situations and individual support needs.

Our approach to training and development is focused on helping staff strengthen the skills they use in their day-to-day work. This includes understanding person-centred support, communication, professional boundaries, safety, dignity and the importance of recognising each person as an individual.

Development should also continue beyond initial training. As team members gain experience, there should be opportunities to build confidence, improve their understanding of different support needs and develop professionally within the organisation.

By investing in learning and development, we aim to create a team that is better prepared to provide consistent support and respond thoughtfully as an individual’s needs, circumstances or goals change.

Recruitment

We are interested in people who want to make a meaningful contribution to supported living and who understand the responsibility that comes with working closely with individuals who may require ongoing support.

The qualities we value include reliability, empathy, patience, clear communication and the ability to work respectfully with others. Experience within care or supported living may be valuable for some roles, but attitude, professionalism and a willingness to learn are also important.

Recruitment is about more than filling vacancies. We want to build a team that reflects MAYLAD’s person-centred approach and understands the importance of dignity, choice, consistency and independence.

Applicants should be prepared to work collaboratively with colleagues and, where relevant, with families and professionals involved in an individual’s support. The aim is always to contribute to a stable, respectful environment where the people we support can feel secure and involved in their own lives.
